Distribution

Figure 1. Color plate (artistic rendition) of T. (Thopeutica) darlingtonia (left), and map of the Philippine archipelago showing the provinces where specimens were said to be distributed (right) based on two published articles [1][2].

Luzon

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)
  • Province of Apayao
    • Municipality of Calanasan
      • Barangay Tanglagan & Brgy. Parina [2]
        • In the acknowledgment section, the paper [2] indicated an expression of gratitude to the provincial government for providing "permits". But based on RA 9147 [3], wildlife permits are solely issued by the DENR through its regional offices.
        • In this case, the "permits" mentioned in the paper [2] probably meant "Prior Informed Consent" from the local government units as required by the DENR for the issuance of wildlife permits. DENR Cordillera, however, was not acknowledged as stipulated in Section 4.1 of the Wildlife Gratuitous Permit.
        • The paper [2] also indicated that the specimens are deposited in Davao Region. Prior to inter-provincial travel, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) conducts a visual assessment and makes an Inspection Report for internal use. This is required for the issuance of the Local Transport Permit (LTP).
        • The wildlife permits for specimens collected may be verified through a simple Freedom of Information (FOI) request to the DENR regional offices and PENRO.
CALABARZON
  • Province of Cavite
    • Municipality of Ternate [1]
        • The paper [1] did not indicate date of collection. Since the paper was published in 2016, collection may have been done after 2001 when RA 9147 [3] was passed. If this is the case, the date and the location can be verified by evaluating the Wildlife Gratuitous Permit issued for this research.
Mindanao

Region X: Northern Mindanao
  • Province of Bukidnon
    • Municipality of Impasug-ong [1]
        • The paper [1] did not indicate date of collection. Since the paper was published in 2016, collection may have been done after 2001 when RA 9147 [3] was passed. If this is the case, the date and the location can be verified by evaluating the Wildlife Gratuitous Permit issued for this research.
