Calomera cabigasi morphological description

Calomera cabigasi Cassola, 2011

Calomera cabigasi is similar to C. decemguttata but smaller in size, have darker elytra, and pattern of elytral spots are slightly different.



Head
  • Gena and head glabrous, dull black in color, with greenish reflections at the orbital declivities.
  • Eyes yellowish in color.
  • Labrum yellow, narrowly blackened in front, wider than longer, distinctly raised in the middle. In females, two adjacent teeth may be present.
  • Mandibles are short, yellow at base, black on teeth.
  • Palpi slightly dark, maxillary palps metallic black with slight greenish reflections, labials yellow with last joint metallic greenish black.
  • Antennae slender, longer in males than in females, antennomeres 1-4 metallic black with some green reflections, antenomeres 5-11 dull brownish-black, finely and evenly pubescent.
Thorax
  • Pronotum subsquare, subparallel-sided, glabrous, some white setae on lateral margins.
  • Dull black in color with slight greenish reflections on posterior transversal grove as well as basal lobe.
  • Episterna dull reddish black in color.
  • Proepisterna with white recumbent pubescence, as well as the lateral sides of the sternum.
  • Mesepisternum of female with slight shallow pitted puncture in the middle.
  • Scutellum not striated, color back with green reflections.
Elytra
  • Wider than head with eyes.
  • Rather convex, dull velvety black in color.
  • Elytral mirror in female lacking.
  • Elytral markings identical to C. decemguttata.
  • Elytral markings consist of roundish yellow spots located on the shoulder, on the subhumeral part, on the submarginal part, on the discal part with tendency to coalesce with the former one by a narrow oblique lineole, and an apical complete lunule.
  • Hind margins rounded, poorly serulate, slightly emarginate at the suture.
  • Sutural tooth small to nearly lacking.
Abdomen
  • More or less metallic bluish-green
  • Mostly glabrous
  • Fine white setae on the sides of the first three abdominal sternites.
  • Trochanters piceous-black, with some metallic reflections.
  • Femora black with some bluish-green reflections
  • Tibiae and tarsi mostly black
Male aedeagus
  • Arc-shaped, tapering, ending in a straight apical point.
